Golf & Wellness Reiters Spa & Golf Resort Stegerbach, Austria. SONY DSC

When I think of holidaying in Austria skiing comes to mind, beautiful mountains, crisp fresh air. I would never have thought of going to play golf until I was in Spain last year, I met an Austrian lady who told me about the wonderful golf courses and spa resorts in her country. So earlier this year with some friends we travelled to South Burgenland, Stegersbach to see for ourselves! There are four hotels within the Reiters Resort in Stegersbach, all of a very high standard. I booked into The Allegria 4 star luxury Hotel which overlooked the golf course. The bedrooms were spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. The Allegria hotel is connected to the Stegersbach thermal spa, so guests can walk straight to the spa from the rooms in their bathrobes. There are fourteen swimming pools, two high speed slides and a wave pool. There are outdoor beach volleyball areas, trampolines and climbing walls. Plenty of activities to keep the kids occupied. Other hotels in the resort include the 5 star Falkensteiner Balance resort, which I was informed is amazing, expensive but worth every penny! We dined here on one of the evenings and the food was superb! I loved Austrian style Hotel Puchas Plus, the rooms were smaller but beautiful and very cozy! Nearby is Hotel Larimer, guests from Puchas Plus can use the Spa facilities at the Larimar hotel. All hotels are connected directly to the Stegersbach Therme. The emphasis throughout the resort is total relaxation. Although the resort is large every hotel and pool area is well situated and feels luxuriously exclusive. The wellness area with Yin Yang pool, sun deck, a variety of saunas and steambaths provide the perfect hideaway. There are extensive pampering programs focusing on the healing power of water and nature. Excellent massages and beauty treatments to relieve stress and leave feeling totally chilled!
